An atlatl, or spear, is currently an illegal implement for use to take fish or wildlife within New York State.
There are no current proposals for the DEC to legalize this implement. You may contact the Bureau of Wildlife at fwwildf@gw.dec.state.ny.us to make such a proposal and supply the appropriate justification and documentation.
